Possession is 9/10 of the Law
From the WSJ Evening Wrap:
Possession may be nine-tenths of the law, but most law enforcement agencies don't quite see it that way when it comes to stolen property. A Baltimore man found that out the hard way, according to police. He stole a car at gunpoint last month, drove it for two weeks and then left it parked not far from where he stole it, police said. The owner happened to see the car, called the police and had it towed. The alleged carjacker then called police and reported the vehicle stolen, police said. He was taken downtown for questioning, where he eventually confessed to taking the car, police said. He reported it stolen because he had left his wallet in it, police said. "Again, this really happened," detective Gregory Jenkins wrote in his report.
